Who doesn’t LOVE Salisbury Steak?!
My son used to beg me for the microwaveable stuff… 🤢 YUCK! That stuff might as well be canned dog food, imo.
So, I had to doctor it up a bit and find a way to cook it myself. What I did was SUPER easy, and he’s never asked for the microwaveable steaks again!
Not only does my son like it, but my friends that happen to visit on nights I cook this always enjoy it too!
- Hamburger Patties — I get the ones at Kroger that are 10/$10, but have included a link for the cheapest ones I could find on Amazon.
- 2 packages Brown Gravy Mix
- Mushrooms (OPTIONAL)
- 1 large yellow onion
- salt & pepper
Of course, don’t forget your sides!
Cook each hamburger patty in a non-stick skillet (like this one) over medium heat until done. Season with salt and pepper.
Sautee` mushrooms and diced onion in a skillet with butter over medium-high heat.
Cook gravy according to directions on the package (by stove or microwave).
Once the burgers are finished, lay them over paper towels on a plate to absorb the grease. Then, place them in a deep baking dish — I use a 13×9″ dish.
Stir gravy, onions, and mushrooms together and pour over the patties.
Bake at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes.
My son and I like to use either white rice or mashed potatoes with green beans and either crescent rolls or cornbread, as our sides.
With the Shopping List I’ve provided above, this makes 10 patties, so we always have plenty of leftovers! We normally aren’t “leftover people”, but these are still SO good the next day!
